Yura Adams was born in Sioux City, Iowa and lives in Athens, New York.
Adams received a BFA in painting and a MFA in performance art and photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited as a painter and intermedia artist throughout the United States in venues such as The New Museum and Experimental Intermedia in New York City and most recently in a one person show at the John Davis Gallery in Hudson, New York. Adams has been the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts, Individual Artist grant and is currently a regional representative in the NYFA Mark program. She has taught art at IS183 of West Stockbridge, MA, Columbia Greene Community College of Hudson, NY, where she is director of the Foundation Gallery, and Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. Her next show will open at the John Davis Gallery, February, 2010.
